Why invade Mozambique?

Let me get this straight. Mozambique has been independent for almost half a century, forty six (46) years to be precise, under the rule of the same political party - FRELIMO; a civil war erupted there some four years ago, and is still ongoing; and now Southern African Development Community (SADC) states intend to send soldiers to help quell the "uprising"?

What can SADC forces achieve that Mozambique forces failed to accomplish in the last four years? If, as seems likely, some of the "insurgents" are former FRELIMO fighters, should we (SADC) not be seeking answers from the Mozambique government as to why former freedom fighters have turned into "terrorists"? Have all elections that have taken place since independence in Mozambique been free, fair and credible? If so why has a section of the population resorted to taking up arms against their compatriots?

In my view SADC should not intervene militarily in Mozambique. The Mozambique "insurgents"/ ISIL, or whatever you prefer to call them, have not declared that SADC is their military target. They have in fact declared the world as their target, should that world come to Mozambique's assistance! It is SADC which now seeks to expand the military conflict beyond Mozambique, onto itself; and the SADC propaganda machine is busy trying to convince us citizens that the ISIL insurgents have set their sights on the territory of SADC. SADC should send political representatives, not armed soldiers to Mozambique, and persuade the Mozambican government to conduct free, fair and credible elections under the supervision of SADC or that of the United Nations (UN). If the same political party continues to win the elections, why then not leave it to the Mozambique voters to militarily solve what will undoubtedly be manifesting itself as a politico-military conflict?

The "Development" aspect of SADC should not be militarily pursued. War has never brought development to any region or country. SADC should pursue peacefull development, which is achievable only by the genuine economic and political participation of all its citizens. The protocols that are now dictating that we send our forces to Mozambique were never a subject of national discourse at any SADC national election. War is such a serious matter that we should challenge our government to call an election over the matter of sending troops to Mozambique. If the government feels confident that our citizens support the war effort, then let the government call a general election today!
