Why invade Mozambique?
Let me get this straight. Mozambique has been independent for almost half a century, forty six (46) years to be precise, under the rule of the same political party - FRELIMO; a civil war erupted there some four years ago, and is still ongoing; and now Southern African Development Community (SADC) states intend to send soldiers to help quell the "uprising"? What can SADC forces achieve that Mozambique forces failed to accomplish in the last four years? If, as seems likely, some of the "insurgents" are former FRELIMO fighters, should we (SADC) not be seeking answers from the Mozambique government as to why former freedom fighters have turned into "terrorists"? Have all elections that have taken place since independence in Mozambique been free, fair and credible? If so why has a section of the population resorted to taking up arms against their compatriots? In my view SADC should not intervene militarily in Mozambique. The Mozambique "insurgents"/...
