The Police alone cannot cope.

Our Police are running helter skelter escorting transit truckers throughout the breadth and length of this republic. Therefore they are thin on the ground inside the country. As a result irresponsible people who flatly refuse to wear PROPER masks PROPERLY are taking advantage of this and flouting Covid-19 rules.

Our Parliament needs to take these criminals head on. Government should recruit volunteers (yes, unpaid volunteers) among the general public to police the wearing of masks in Public places. In addition to that every health worker should be empowered to enforce the wearing of face masks in all Public places.

The enforcement should be such that anybody who is noticed and cautioned for not wearing a face mask should have his/her name published in the "Daily News", and such person should be denied medical treatment at Government expense for the duration of the Covid-19 pandemic, regardless of the type of ailment he/she suffers from. Our people need to understand that our taxpayer's money cannot be used to treat those who would deliberately put everybody else's health at risk. Let Parliament pass the requisite legislation with all due haste. Covid-19 cannot be treated as just another disease!

Strange things in this world

Palestine/Israel:   The architects of Apartheid in South Africa insisted that they were implementing an "n" state solution where "n" is the number of independent states. Their "n" was composed of such Bantustans as BophutaTswana, Transkei, Ciskei, KwaZulu etc. We (rightly) vilified them and fought to destroy their unacceptable designs in our continent. Many people died in the process. Today people are advocating for the creation of another "n" state solution with "n=2" in Palestine/Israel. They call it a 2 state solution. Hendrick Vervoed must be dancing in his grave! Botswana: UDC vs IEC I listened to part of the judgement reading. What's wrong with Botswana cartoonists?

I mean here is a guy, on the eve of his becoming president, and he comes wearing the most ridiculous looking cap bedecked with medals; an absolute cartoonists paradise, surpassed if at all, only by Jean Bedell Bokasa's coat! And guess what, it's been two months now that he has been making decisions affecting all our lives, and not one cartoon of him wearing that ridiculous hat has appeared in the mainline press. All we get are almost exact replicas of his photoshoots, or selfies as they are called nowadays! Come on guys what do you think we live in - a Banana republic or what?
