Constitutional Review

As a first step in the constitutional review process, and looking objectively at the map of our country, "the Pen..", not to mention the low-cost solution involved, wouldn't it be RIGHT to rename our country "BOTSALO" or "BOTSALWA" ?

Botsalo means "Birth", while Botsalwa means "Being born" in the Sumerian/Coptic/Arab/Sotho/Tswana language. Pretty similar, wouldn't you say? Either name would help solve the controversy of usurpation of the original name of the current Republic - Bakhwanaland/Bechuanaland. The people would then become "Batsalwa".

The impostor "national language", which is in reality Sumerian/Arab/Coptic/Sotho/Tswana, would retain the name "Setswana", while the English language assumes the local name "Setsalwa".

Palapye is not a Ngwato village

An article entitled "Focus on Palapye; The rise and rise of Palapye" in the latest edition of The Voice newspaper has touched a raw nerve. It is yet another of the myriad writings, some by "prominent historians" which seek to potray the Bangwato as some sort of super-tribe. The supressed truth is that Bangwato were a small insignificant tribe until the British arrived, gave them guns, and unleashed them on other African tribes. The rest is "history", a doctored version of history of course! If you follow true history however, the one that necessarily starts at Mapungubwe, you will understand that Bangwato originate from Balete boo Seleka (Balindi baka Chiliga), and that they got their totem - phuti, meaning the duiker, not from their Chief Khama iii being saved by a duiker as so-called historians tell us, but from the gods themselves. Saving Kuke village, saving Shashe river

I have just watched a Botswana Television (Btv) program which, in my opinion, can best be described as a horror show. The grizzly show depicts how huge swathes of pristine wilderness around the town of Kuke is being cleared of trees in the name of “commercial” charcoal industry. Our country is semi desert, as we all learnt and hopefully continue to teach our children today. How then can we cut the few trees we have and expose the land to the ravages of wind and other erosive forces? For those of us who still speak Kalanga, it is clear that the un-corrupted name of the town of Kuke is “ku bgwe”, meaning “at the rock/s”. This is so because travelling by bus on a tarred road from Maun to Ghanzi you see no rock outcrop of any sort whatsoever for close to an hour. The land is flat as far as the eye can see.
