"Re baakanya lefatshe" my foot!

As I post this, a "fire" church next door, in a residential area, is blarring its loudspeaker into everybody's bedroom. Just what country is being corrected here? Are the powers that be not even ashamed when babies can't sleep, when truck drivers can't sleep, when school children can't sleep?

Our tribes and totems

When the gods genetically re-engineered man, they allocated man to work-groups which we call tribes/nations today. Man was insulated from the political alignments of the gods. Man was just a worker who had to be protected from being swamped by Homo Naledi.Such was the community that lived on and around Mapungubwe hill. Some guards (Balindi/Balete) were placed at the top of the hill, while others were deployed at the bottom. The principal responsibility of the guards on the hill-top was to drop (ku liga) rocks on any enemy who might have breached the lower defences. Consequently the hill-top guards became known as "the droppers" (Baka Chiliga) [Boo Seleka in Setswana] Totems were assigned by the gods mostly to differentiate one work-group from another, but also to give humanity the upper hand in the survival stakes vis-a-vis Homo Naledi. Assault on marriages: hallmark of a Presidential scoundrel

They recently buried the scoundrel. Flags fluttered at half-mast. From eyes half-glazed by booze tears trickled down chubby cheeks puffed up by our stolen wealth. This, I imagine, is what took place, because I was not there. I did not attend, nor did I watch on TV. The scene was “too ghastly to contemplate”. Festus Mogae had accolades posthumously heaped on him. What I found particularly distressing was the credit he was given for battling the HIV pandemic in our country; all because he had gone to the International community with a begging bowl on our behalf and declared that AIDS was threatening to wipe us out. The International community generously responded and offered help. What Festus Mogae did not tell the International community was his role in the way the disease spread around the country.
